Crystal Stewart Courtens is an extension associate and regional vegetable specialist with the Eastern New York Commercial Horticulture Program serving commercial growers in 17 counties in Eastern NY, with an emphasis on the Mohawk Valley and Capital District. Crystal joined CCE in 2007 as the agriculture educator in Fulton/Montgomery counties and works closely with produce auction farms and plain community farmers in Eastern New York. She is also the statewide lead for garlic production. Crystal and her husband, Jean-Paul, own and operate Philia Farm, a small vegetable and garlic seed farm in Johnstown, NY.

During this workshop at the Adirondack Garlic Festival, you'll learn to craft garlic braids using hardneck garlic, which thrives here in the North Country but is not traditionally used in braids. We'll provide you with our organically grown garlic (5 heads), herbs, everlasting flowers, and helpful tips, you'll leave with a beautiful garlic braid!Â
